The
Two-Stage Principle
Canada is a country of widely varying temperatures from season
to season. In-house research has shown a typical building requires
its total designed heating capacity only 10 percent of the heating
season. The RE-VERBER-RAY two-stage HL SERIES was specifically
developed to more efficiently meet the heating requirements of
the other 90 percent of the heating season. These two graphs reproduced
with permission from an RDM Engineering report, dramatically demonstrate
the operating differences between the twostage and single input
infrared heating alternatives. With single-stage systems heaters
run on 'high-fire' all the time. With Re-Verber-Ray HL Series
heaters, two-stage technology means that the "high-fire' mode
is really only needed ten percent of the heating season, resulting
in energy savings year after year, as well as an enhanced employee
comfort level.
Independent
Testing Conclusions
Independent test data has compared the fuel efficiency of
two-stage versus single stage infra-red heating and conclusively
demonstrated that RE-VERBER-RAY two-stage technology used
in the HL SERIES results in a clearly more efficient heating
system over standard single-stage. Highlights of the conclusions
from the Technical Reports produced include:
1. A significant reduction in the number of onoff cycles
(a reduction of some 35 percent) resulting in increased
energy savings, improved comfort and extended product life.
2. Conceptual analysis showed a minimum 12 percent energy
saving utilizing two-stage technology, when compared with
single-stage. Ongoing independent testing comparing the
HL SERIES with a competitor's single stage heating system
has documented an average of 33.5 percent in energy savings
utilizing RE-VERBER-RAY two-stage technology.
3. For really cold Winter days - about ten percent of the
heating season - full heat output is readily available with
the "high -fire" mode of two-stage technology. By more closely
paralleling actual heating requirements and using the "low-fire"
mode for 90 percent of the heating season, there is clearly
enhanced employee comfort level in the work environment.
4. The greater overall performance efficiency of the RE-VERBER-RAY
two-stage technology used in the HL SERIES results in a
cleaner environment. |

Overall System Features
Two-stage flexibility ensures maximum comfort and efficiency through
a "calculated input differential" - the difference between "high-fire"
and "low-fire" levels of operation. The overall design efficiency
provides greater flexibility in new and retrofit applications
through modular construction which allows radiant tube configurations
accommodating 45, 90 or 180 degree elbows. Optional outside combustion
air allows combustion air and heater controls to be isolated from
adverse conditions. The HL SERIES is approved by the Canadian
Gas Association (CGA) for vented or unvented use.
Exchanger Features
The combustion chamber tube and radiant tubes are manufactured
from four inch diameter 16 gauge titanium alloyed aluminized steel
and 16 gauge aluminized steel Type 1 respectively for corrosion
resistance and exceed the ML 500 hour salt spray test. The exchanger
coupling system utilizes a "slip fit" system, as well as a four
inch band clamp for added security and a continuous linear appearance.
The exterior coating of the exchanger is specially blended for
maximum emissivity, corrosion resistance and architectural appeal.
The final component in the system, the turbulator baffle, is designed
to maximize heat transfer and minimize exhaust loss.
Engineered Reflector
Design
Fully adjustable polished aluminum parabolic reflectors complete
with end caps can be installed at angles from 0 to 45 degrees
directing heat only where required. The integrated hanging system
includes state-of -the-art hangers and a unique reflector tension
spring that prevents reflector vibration - all easily installed
without tools.
Control Box Features
Staging indicator lights mean continuous monitoring of the HL
SERIES for optimal energy savings. The fixed metering orifice
provides maximum combustion efficiency from factory preset parameters.
Dual safety pressure switches continuously monitor burner operation
and the proven globar ignition system (HSI) assures ignition under
adverse conditions. The burner sight glass allows the globar operation
to be monitored easily from the floor. Included is the industry
leading MICRO 6OU-24, a self-diagnostic microprocessor based control
that incorporates pre and post purge firing as well as "hard"
and "soft" lockout. "Hard lockout" for complete 100 percent heater
shutdown of the burner and fan which can only be restarted by
resetting the thermostat and "soft lockout" which facilitates
an automatic 30 minute restart if the heater goes out because
of environmental conditions (i.e. winds that exceed 40 miles (66
km) per hour.)
